Cats out of the Bag! 🐾 I'm almost ready to share a series of paintings that are dear to me. They make me smile. It’s not my usual subject or style, but as I mentioned a few posts ago, I’m trying to get over that fear/stigma. It’s what I wanted to create. Hopefully you’re along for the ride. 🖤 #WIP #workinprogress
I’m overwhelmed by all the thoughtful comments on the last post. 🖤 Sometimes my introvertedness paralyzes me from replying swiftly, but I plan on responding to everyone. It just takes me a little more time to process. Also, unrelated, I somehow threw my neck out this week, so if your neck is working give it a pat on the back. 🙃 Created back in 2017.
☼ ☾ Reflections: I often struggle with feeling like I should stick to one medium or style. But that’s not how my brain works. For me art is about exploring, it’s about creating in whatever medium or style makes sense. Don’t be afraid to try new things. Make mistakes, and learn from them.

Current studio wall 🖤🎨 I’ve been playing around painting the same design with different color palettes. Each painting takes longer than I want to admit to sketch out and paint. I’m planning on adding these to the shop very soon!

Hello! 👋 I’m back from a lovely social media break. It feels so good to get away and reset. I have never commented on how Instagram has influenced my work, but it does. Instagram can be a wonderful place for artists to share their work and feel supported. But it can also become a toxic place where the pressure to create and churn out new content for likes is always looming. I know my worth is not based on likes and follows, but even if you are mindful of it, it does affect your mindset. It’s important to get away and remember why you are creating. Personally, I want to create work that I feel passionate about at my speed and not for an “algorithm”. I have been working on other projects that are not ready to share yet, including a couple that I am frankly nervous to share because it’s unlike a lot of what you’ve seen me make, but in the meantime here is a closeup of a piece I dreamed up this week. What’s your passion? 👂🎨🖌 Major throwback to this chalkboard, drawn 3x4 feet in 2014. (Prints available in my shop, link in bio) - Swipe to see some of Van Gogh’s passionate work. I finally watched Loving Vincent, a film entirely hand painted by over 100 artists. I definitely recommend it if you are a fan of his work or just enjoy artistic movies. It’s both inspiring and heartbreaking to learn about his life. Vincent was 28 when he first picked up a brush to start painting and died at 37 leaving behind over 2,100 works of art, including 860 oil paintings. - The message of this piece is not to work yourself to death, but to be reminded of your passions and embrace them. Van Gogh suffered from mental illness and neglected his physical health. Please take care of your mental and physical health first. 💙
